Enhancing DNS Security in Vigor routers to protect users from malware and phishing

Additionally, we can make use of some public DNS servers which provide malware blocking and privacy guarantees to help protect your network from cyber threats as alternatives. For example:

Set up Vigor Router

• Setup DNS server in LAN profile
• Go to the Details Page of the LAN profile where you can specify a DNS Server IP Address with preferred DNS server of your choice. These addresses will be assigned to LAN clients by router’s DHCP server.

• Force router to use preferred DNS server for router services
• Please refer to: Use preferred DNS server address on Vigor Router
  This will force the router to use preferred DNS configured in LAN profile when the router’s services try to make DNS queries to lookup IP addresses.
• Force client to use preferred DNS server for all DNS queries
• Please refer to: Forward All DNS Queries to a Private DNS Server
  We can force the router to forward all DNS queries to the preferred DNS server by using wildcard option in DNS forwarding.

• Force the browser not to use DoH to send DNS queries
  If the browser is trying to use DoH, Vigor Router might not be able to forward the browser's queries to the preferred DNS server setup on the router.
