Background
This customer is top-1 & food & grocery shops in Germany, which owns thousands of branches stores nationwide. The staff needs to access the central database daily as routine, downloading the marketing materials, checking inventory level and update, proceeding a massive amount of billing transactions and more. All the connections and traffic transmissions among the headquarter and different shops are under private MPLS ring and secure firewall network.
When Telekom is upgrading the existing DSL lines to super-vectoring 35b in offering 300Mbps speed, the stores want to benefit from the high speeds but still compliant with the existing network infrastructure.
Challenges
The retail shops want to adopt two modems in each store, which is planning to deploy over the selected region‘s 1,500 locations. With the complexity of their existing network structure and across the 3,000+ CPEs management, it is a huge task to the client to well manage, monitor, and maintain their connection network and its daily operation. Such as higher capacity server requires, advance central management system, with agile networking devices for backup and redundancy, are highly needed.
Also, budget and time-saving is mandatorily required to the customer. The device rollout should be fast.
Solutions and Benefits
35b Super Vectoring DSL Modems
Each store gets replaced the current used outdated DSL modems of other vendors by multiple DrayTek Vigor165, supporting latest line types up to VDSL2 Supervectoring Profile 35B, with speeds up to 300Mbps.
Easy Deployment
From this case, only a few parts of Vigor165's WAN/Internet and TR-069 pages needed to be configured in compliant with the existing network infrastructure. The rollout has been done within one day.
Central Management Solution
DrayTek's remote configuration and centralized management system - VigorACS 2, provides the solutions to:
- Sustainingly updating, upgrading configuration for thousands of devices in minutes
- Birdview over all connected devices status, manage them centrally
- Scheduling the backups and firmware-rollouts could be done out of the store's opening hours (i.e., in the night).
